Tree pollen

Tree Pollen Allergy –

Common Springtime Allergy with Treatable Symptoms

Tree pollen allergy is one of the most common allergic reactions, affecting many people during the spring months.
Typical symptoms include itchy, red, and swollen eyes, as well as a runny nose caused by inflammation of the nasal mucous membranes.
Many sufferers also experience an unpleasant scratchy throat, which can irritate the airways and make breathing uncomfortable.

Fortunately, modern medicine offers a variety of treatment options to relieve these symptoms and improve the quality of life for those affected by seasonal allergies.

Grass pollen

Grass Pollen Allergy – Recognize and Treat Symptoms Early

Grass pollen allergy commonly appears from May onwards and can persist throughout the summer months.
Those affected often experience symptoms such as a runny nose, itchy eyes, and nasal irritation.

In modern medicine, it is essential to identify this allergy early and take appropriate measures to relieve symptoms.
Early diagnosis and targeted treatment can significantly improve quality of life during the high-pollen season and help patients enjoy the warmer months with greater comfort.

House dust mite

Dust Mite Allergy – Year-Round Symptoms and Effective Treatment Options

House dust mites are microscopic organisms that can trigger year-round allergy symptoms, especially during the colder months.
Many people experience issues such as a blocked nose, persistent cough, and frequent respiratory infections, caused by an allergic reaction to the mites’ droppings.

As the concentration of dust mites in indoor environments increases during winter, affected individuals often suffer from worsening symptoms that can significantly impact their quality of life.

Comprehensive medical treatment combined with preventive measures to reduce dust mite exposure is essential to alleviate symptoms and promote long-term respiratory health.

Professional allergy diagnostics for targeted allergy treatment

Comprehensive Allergy Diagnostics for Accurate Results

To reliably identify the cause of your allergic symptoms, we perform a comprehensive medical history (anamnesis)and use modern allergy testing methods.
This precise allergy diagnostics allows us to determine the exact triggers of your allergic reactions.

Based on these results, we develop a personalized allergy treatment plan – designed to provide long-term symptom relief and improve your quality of life.

Prick test

Prick Test – Reliable Skin Testing for Accurate Allergy Diagnosis

The prick test is a well-established skin test used in allergy diagnostics to quickly and reliably detect allergic reactionsto common allergens.
During the test, small drops of various allergens – such as pollen, house dust mites, or animal dander – are applied to the skin and introduced through tiny, controlled pricks.

Within just a few minutes, it becomes clear whether an allergic reaction is present.
The test is minimally invasive, painless, and provides reliable results within 15–20 minutes.

The prick test is an important diagnostic tool that helps us develop a personalized allergy treatment plan tailored to your individual needs.

Laboratory diagnostics

Specific IgE Blood Test – A Key Component of Modern Allergy Diagnostics

The determination of specific IgE antibodies in the blood is an essential part of modern allergy diagnostics and serves as a valuable complement to the skin prick test.
This allergy blood test is particularly useful when skin tests are not possible or inconclusive – for example, in cases of existing skin conditions or during the use of certain medications.

In addition, the specific IgE test can be performed alongside the prick test to provide a more comprehensive diagnostic picture, helping physicians interpret allergy results more precisely and identify the underlying causes of allergic reactions with greater accuracy.

In our allergy practice, we perform the analysis of specific IgE levels in our own in-house laboratory – ensuring fast results and the highest level of diagnostic accuracy.

Therapy

Hyposensitization (Specific Immuno-therapy): Long-Term Treatment for Allergies

Hyposensitization, also known as specific immunotherapy (SIT), is currently the only causal treatment for allergies to specific triggers such as pollen or house dust mites.
The goal of this proven therapy is to train the immune system to tolerate the allergen, thereby reducing allergic reactions in the long term – not just alleviating the symptoms.

Two Effective Treatment Options

Subcutaneous Immunotherapy (SCIT):
Regular injections administered under the skin at the allergy practice.

Sublingual Immunotherapy (SLIT):
Daily intake of allergen tablets placed under the tongue.

Both treatment methods are scientifically well-studied and have shown high effectiveness.
They can significantly reduce allergy symptoms and help prevent disease progression, for example, from allergic rhinitis to allergic asthma.

Typically, specific immunotherapy is carried out over a period of three to five years.
With good tolerability, it can lead to lasting treatment success and a marked improvement in quality of life.

At our ENT and allergy practice, we provide individual consultation and treatment planning to find the most suitable immunotherapy option for your specific needs.
