Hearing Diagnostics – Focusing on Your Hearing Health
Good hearing is essential for quality of life, social connection, and effective communication – both at work and in everyday life. At our ENT practice in Munich, we place great importance on early detection and personalized treatment of hearing disorders. Using state-of-the-art diagnostic methods such as pure-tone audiometry, otoacoustic emissions, and otoneurological testing, we can precisely determine the location and extent of any hearing impairment.
Our hearing diagnostics are designed for adults, children, and infants alike. Whether you’re experiencing age-related hearing loss, noise-induced damage, tinnitus, or balance disorders, we carefully analyze the underlying causes and develop an individual treatment plan tailored to your needs. With our comprehensive expertise, we support you from the initial hearing assessment to hearing aid fitting and ongoing follow-up care.
Early hearing diagnosis is key to detecting hearing problems in time, preventing further damage, and improving your long-term quality of life. If you notice that conversations are becoming more difficult or sounds seem muffled, a professional hearing test with an ENT specialist is the first important step.

Pure tone audiogram
Basis of every hearing test
The pure tone audiogram is one of the most important examinations for assessing your hearing ability.
During the test, a series of tones with different frequencies and volumes are played through headphones.
This allows us to determine if hearing loss is present and in which frequency range it occurs.
The examination takes only a few minutes and provides valuable information about the type and degree of hearing impairment.
The results serve as a basis for further treatment – for example, in selecting a suitable hearing aid or conducting additional medical evaluations to identify other underlying causes.

Otoacoustic emissions (OAE) – Test for the inner ear
The measurement of otoacoustic emissions (OAE) is a modern and objective method used to assess the function of the cochlea (inner ear).
A small device placed in the ear detects tiny sound waves that are naturally produced by the inner ear itself.
If these signals are absent, it may indicate a functional disorder of the sensory hair cells within the cochlea.
This examination is particularly important for newborns and young children, as hearing impairments often go unnoticed at an early age.
An early diagnosis allows for timely treatment and can significantly improve speech and language development.

Otoneurological diagnostics: Check balance and auditory nerves
Our otoneurological diagnostics enable a precise and comprehensive examination of the hearing and balance nerves.
We use specialized hearing tests, balance assessments, and, if necessary, imaging techniques to identify disorders of the inner ear or auditory nerve – for example in cases of dizziness, tinnitus, acute hearing loss, or sudden sensorineural hearing loss.
This comprehensive analysis allows us to accurately determine the cause of your symptoms and initiate a targeted and effective treatment tailored to your individual needs.
Detect hearing loss early
Early Detection of Hearing Loss – For Better Hearing at Any Age
An early diagnosis is essential for successfully treating hearing problems. Hearing loss often develops gradually – caused by noise exposure, ear infections, or age-related changes. The sooner a hearing impairment is detected, the better your hearing ability can be preserved or improved.
Watch for These Common Signs:
-
Frequently asking others to repeat themselves
-
Difficulty understanding speech in noisy environments
-
Turning up the TV or phone volume too high
-
Feeling that others are speaking “unclearly”
If you notice these symptoms, a hearing test with an ENT specialist is strongly recommended.
Using state-of-the-art diagnostic methods, we can detect even slight hearing losses and begin treatment at an early stage.
